Passengers survive as Mazhandu bus burns to ashes

Bus in fireA bus belonging to Mazhandu  Family Bus Service with over 50 people on board has burnt into ashes. The bus driving from Livingstone to Lusaka caught fire after Zimba but before Kalomo.

According to one of the passengers on board, a driver noticed some smoke and immediately stopped and ordered to move out. There was panic as the driver, conductor struggled to get the luggage from the bus.
Effort to put off the fire failed as the bus burnt into ashes while everybody watched helpless. It is not clear what could have caused the fire.

This comes barely a fortnight after a Postal Services Bus was involved in a fatal accident that claimed over 50 lives.
