Panic gripes farmers in Masaiti…no pay from FRA

Farmers in Masaiti district on the Copperbelt province of Zambia are worried about the late payment of their money by the Food Reserve Agency(FRA) for the maize they supplied to the agency last farming season.
Masaiti district commissioner Joseph Mwambana said farmers are worried that up to now they have not received their money from FRA.
“Most farmers are worried that they have not received their money from FRA  for the maize they sold to the agency, and this may delay them to carry out their farming activities,” he said.
And  Mwambazi said Masaiti district is expected to receive about 27,000bags  by 50kilograms of D compound by next week saying that local transporters have been subcontracted to  transport the commodity to various farming co-operatives within the district.
“We are expecting to receive about 27,000 bags by 50ilograms next week but the worry is that most farmers in the are have not received their money for the maize they sold to  FRA,”  he said.
