Opposition MPs accuse Sata of taking development to Muchinga

Opposition Members of Parliament from North Western Province has reacted angrily to a statement by President Michael Sata where he said the MPs are not representing the people well.

The MPs from the UPND, and MMD accused President Michael Sata of neglecting other parts of the country and concentrating on his home province, Muchinga.

Spokesperson of the group Kabinga Pande said the President is taking too much development to the newly created Province while neglecting other parts.

Pande who is Kasempa MMD MP cited the construction of two universities in Muchinga while provinces apart from Lusaka, Central and Copperbelt Provinces do not have any.

The former Minister said people in the province are aware that the province which contributes alot to the country has been neglected by government. Pande who was speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka on Thursday July 18, 2013 was briefed by other MPs.

President Sata had said during a campaign in Solwezi East that the MPs in the province are not representing them well.

And Mwinilunga MMD MP Elijah Muchima raised a point of order in parliament on Wednesday where he expressed concerns at the statement.

But the speaker Dr. Patrick Matibini ruled against the order saying he could not rule in such matters.
