Old and tired Daniel Mukombwe after playing his politics of benefits tricks has bounced back to government this time of the ruling Patriotic Front – PF following a mini reshuffle on Wednesday.

President Michael Sata has nominated Munkombwe to Parliament and also appointed him as Minister of Southern Province, the position he held under MMD. He was later moved to the office of the Vice president the position he served until 2011 elections which his party – MMD at the time lost to PF.

Mukombwe has been in politics from pre-Independence period. He was in UNIP that formed government after Independence but later abandoned it after loosing elections to join the new ruling party then MMD. At one of the campaigns in Sinazongwe Mukombwe publicly told the people to belong to parties where they would have direct benefits.

Due to his old age after he was nominated to parliament Munkombwe got lost in Parliament Building and the event made headline in the News.

He has always associated to the one in power and was one of those that influenced Rupiah Banda who in 2008 had said would only finish late Levy Mwanawasa’s term to seek another term.

Soon after MMD lost power he has been making political statement in support of PF and even offered to campaign for the ruling party in Livingstone by-elections before he officially resigned.

Munkombwe according to President Sata has proved himself worthy hence his nomination to continue ‘his hard work in the office that he held over three years ago.’

He takes over the nomination of Charles Banda who was Minister of Muchinga Province and he since posted to Malawi as High Commissioner.

The changes states State House are intended to incorporate opposition members into government so that they can effectively work together to serve all Zambians.
