NOVARTIS PROVIDES ANTI-MALARIAL TREATMENT TO CHILDREN IN ZAMBIA

LUSAKA, April 7– Novartis and Malaria No More is providing two million antimalarial treatments to children in Zambia

Under the plan, Novartis from Basel, Switzerland, announced that two million treatments of its pediatric antimalarial are arriving in Zambia, a company statement said.

This is through ongoing efforts of the company in collaboration with NGO Malaria No More’s Power of One, campaign. Zambia is the first beneficiary country of the campaign sponsored by Novartis, the Swiss pharmaecutical company.

One million treatments of Coartem® Dispersible drug have been funded through public donations and Novartis matched these with a further one million treatments.

These antimalarials will reduce the disease burden in Zambia, which accounts for up to 40% of infant mortality in that country.
