My enemies are at work says Prof. Chirwa

My enemies are at work, embattled Chief Executive Officer for Zambian Railways Limited Prof. Clive Chirwa has charged, reports Daily Mail.

And the dissolved Board of ZRL has disclosed that it fired Prof. Chirwa and was just waiting for the appointing authorities to approve its recommendation.

Meanwhile, Chirwa says as far as he is concerned he is still CEO at ZRL describing rumours of his dismissal as nonsense. He said there has been no communication from the Ministry or any government official that he has been relieved of his position.

“I have not received any letter or any phone call from the minister indicating that I have been suspended,” Prof Chirwa told Daily Mail. “As far as I am concerned, everything is alright.”

Prof Chirwa said: “All I know now is that my enemies are at work. I don’t even know why I came to Zambia.”

But Oliver Saasa the Deputy Chairman of the dissolved ZRL Board said the board had actually dismissed Prof Chirwa last week, pending approval from the appointing authority.

“We had actually fired Clive Chirwa last week and we were waiting for a go-ahead from the President or the appointing authority. The man lacks and has limited corporate governance skills to run a company like ZRL. We wrote a letter to him indicating that he has been fired but he has not yet responded,” Prof Saasa said on a Muvi Television special interview last evening, reports the Daily Mail.

The PF government is yet to issue a statement after the two parties have spoken publicly. Though the dissolved ZRL Board press briefing on Sunday had no government blessing.
