Mwale faces Disciplinary Action For Allegedly destabilising MMD

The opposition MMD in the eastern province says it will take disciplinary action against its former Member of Parliament in Malambo constituency Maxwell Mwale for allegedly destabilizing the party in the area.

Speaking to ZANIS in an interview in Chipata on Tuesday July 23,2013 , MMD Information and Publicity Secretary Samuel Phiri said the party has received information that Mwale had intentions of re-contesting the seat on the United Party for National Development (UPND) ticket.

Phiri charged that Mwale was reported to have gone to Malambo where he allegedly incited councillors and other members of the MMD to defect to the UPND.

Phiri said the former ruling party was shocked that Mwale who is also a National Executive (NEC) member could woe people to defect from the party which supported him during the time he was area MP.

“We are disappointed and embarrassed with the conduct of Mwale, and we feel he is not worth being a leader as he is a traitor,” he said.

The MMD in the area has meanwhile appealed to ward councillors and other members not to get carried away with Mwale as the UNPD did not have support in the district.
