Mushala urges promotion of justice, human rights

EASTERN Province permanent secretary Bert Mushala has asked some senior civil servants in the province and other stakeholders to help build a Zambia that is based on justice and respect for human rights.

Mushala said the stakeholders should reflect and take stock of Zambia’s human rights situation.

He made the remarks in a speech read for him by acting provincial deputy permanent secretary Zachariah Luhanga when he officiated at the consultative workshop on the preparation of state party reports under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) and International Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) at Pine View Guest House yesterday.

Mushala said the workshop marks the initial steps in the consultative phase of Zambia’s state party reporting cycle under the pertinent treaties.
