Mugabe trying to balance his Cabinet

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe signs Zimbabwe's new constitution into law in the capital HararePresident Robert Mugabe is expected to appoint Zimbabwe’s new cabinet ministers sometime today, according to a highly placed source in government.

Mugabe is struggling to balance his cabinet between loyalists, factions, war vets, technocrats, MDC politicians and the young turks.

A Zimbabwe Online Publication 347.com reports that Tendai Biti of MDC who served as Finance Minister in the Unit government is one of the notables earmarked in Mugabe’s new Cabinet.

Biti is the pontential sucessor of MDC leader Morgan Tsvangarai who has so far lost twice to President Mugabe. There have been growing demands within MDC that Biti takes over.

The Zimbabwean government has a big challenge of revamping the economy and it is likely that the President will announce a small cabinet.

With the ZANU-PF retaurning power, there are reports of investors and trading partners pulling out of Zimbabwe.
