M’membe calls for regional cooperation among newspapers

POST editor-in-chief Fred M’membe says there should be endless cooperation between newspapers in the region.

And Malawi’s The Nation newspaper chief executive officer Mbumba Achuthan says there is more to gain by having cooperation within the region than looking to the West.

Speaking when he met a delegation of senior staff from The Nation newspaper at Post Newspapers offices yesterday, M’membe said there was more that could be done “together”.

He said the two organisations could cooperate in training and other technical areas.

“We haven’t done much with each other, but I feel we can do much more together and we need to do much more together. Newspapers can survive centuries, we know that. That means management has to evolve; one generation has to pass on to the next generation. I think that’s one area that we need to cooperate in,” he said.

“The other one also we need now to start having human beings move a lot.

I would like to see some Malawians working on The Post.
