MMD youth back PF

CONFUSION has rocked the opposition ranks ahead of the forthcoming parliamentary by-elections with the MMD’s youth wing opting to campaign for the Patriotic Front (PF) in the Kafulafuta and Solwezi East polls.
The youth’s move to ditch the UPND is against their party’s alliance with the Hakainde Hichilema-led party to support each other in elections in an effort to beat the ruling PF.
The two parties agreed that the UPND would not field a candidate in the Chipata Central by-election but support the MMD, while the former ruling party had also agreed to do the same in the Solwezi East by-election.
In what appears to be a reaction to reports that the UPND was poaching former Petauke MP Dora Siliya,MMD youths in Lusaka and their counterparts in the MMD Diehard Youth Wing said they had resolved to support PF’s candidates in the two parliamentary by-elections.
