Media can help in corruption fight – Evans

LIVINGSTONE Central member of parliament Lawrence Evans says the media can help society in fighting corruption by constantly reporting on the vice.

In an interview aboard the Makumbi Boat during a fundraising cruise for the Livingstone Press Club ahead of the May 3 World Press Freedom Day commemorations, Evans said the media was a pivotal element in society and should be effectively utilised.

“Corruption is a vice that President Michael Sata is not interested in and any form of its ugly head raising itself up must be reported, and the journalist plays a critical act in this fight. Let us bring out the vices of corruption in an investigative manner so that we become a better society,” Evans said.

He said he would not seek to acquire any plots in Livingstone as he already had enough and appealed to the Livingstone City Council to extend the deadline for plot repossession from 28 days to six months.
