Man caught having sex with a dog in Mazabuka

Police in Mazabuka District this morning arrested a 35-year-old man of Plan 2000 residential area in Mazabuka after he was caught having sex with a dog.

The man, who has been identified as Douglas Hamayoba, has been charged with an offence of bestiality and is remanded in custody at Mazabuka Police Station awaiting appearance in court.

Police sources in the area told ZANIS in an interview that Hamayoba was caught red handed in the sexual act with a bitch (female dog) by neighbours who apprehended and dragged him to the Police Station round 07:00 hours today.

The police sources said there was commotion in the neighbourhood following the incidence as scores of Plan 2000 residents flocked in large numbers in order to catch a glimpse of a man who looked embarrassed following the bestiality scandal.

Upon arrival at Mazabuka Police Station, officers at the station decided to take the man to Mazabuka district hospital for medical examination while the dog was taken to the veterinary office for testing.

Mazabuka District Senior Livestock Officer Goodwill Silupya confirmed that Police Officers, the suspect and the owner of the dog, who is the complainant, visited his office to carry out tests on the dog.

Mr. Silupya however refused to reveal the outcome of the results referring all queries to the District Veterinary Officer who could however, not be reached by press time.

Recently authorities at Chikankata Secondary School in Southern Province expelled a grade ten male pupil who was found having sex with a pig in the piggery within the school premises.

Meanwhile, a seven year old boy of Nkabika compound in the Zambia Sugar estates has died after drowning in one of the canals in sugar plantation when was swimming with friends.

Southern Province Police Commissioner Charity Katanga told ZANIS in Mazabuka today that  Clayton Kabanje, whose body was retrieved from a Technam canal on Saturday around 16: 50 hours, drowned as he was swimming with friends.

Ms. Katanga said the boy’s father Justine Kabanje reported the death of his son to the police.

The body of the boy has been deposited in Mazabuka district hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
