Make Chirwa’s probe findings public – ABZ

Opposition Alliance for Better Zambia (ABZ) has challenged the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) to release the findings of the investigations on former Zambia Railways Chief Executive Officer Professor Clive Chirwa.

ABZ National Chairman Dexter Moono disclosed that ACC should make the findings public and avoid speculations.

Mr. Moono in an interview with SKY FM in Monze on Tuesday during the Lwiindi ceremony for the Tonga speaking people of Southern Province disclosed that the case of Prof. Chirwa was of public interest and should therefore be made known to the public.

The ABZ National Chairperson further disclosed that the PF Government should have first disclosed the findings of the investigations before retiring Prof. Chirwa in what it called national interest.

He suspects that the PF Government wants to make some short circuit in the process

Mr Moono wondered as how the PF Government was fighting corruption if such matters were being swept under the carpet for only a few leaders knowing what was happening when one was found with a case to answer

He disclosed that with ongoing happenings in the Country the PF Government has once again lost an opportunity to convince the people of Zambia that it was on top of things fighting corruption in the Country.

Mr Moono further appealed to both the ACC and the PF Government to state the findings of  the investigations public and avoid speculations.

He stated that ACC should also disclose whether the now retired Professor was cleared.

Government recently retired Prof. Chirwa as Zambia Railways Chief Executive Officer (CEO)  after the ACC had instituted investigations against him over misappropriation of funds at the firm.
