Lubanseshi Independent Member of Parliament (MP) Patrick Mucheleka has urged voters in various constituencies where they will be by-elections to rejects people that have caused the by-election by defecting to the ruling party.

Mucheleka said the voters should give the candidates a vote of no confidence as a way to show them that they disapprove of the unnecessary by-elections.

He also accused the MPs who are defecting from the opposition to join the ruling Patriotic Front of having no principles say.

The Independent MP said it is also not true to suggest that one has to be in the ruling party to deliver development to their constituencies.

Meanwhile, Mucheleka has called for unity of purpose among opposition political parties to provide checks and balances to the current government.

He noted that it is only through unity that the opposition will be able to stand strong stating that they have a lot in common than differences.

He urged opposition leaders to avoid attacking personality among each other but find a common front to unity.

The Former Civil Society for Poverty Reduction Executive Director was speaking at Let the People Talk Programme on Radio Phoenix on Tuesday.
