Loss of more lives in accidents saddens Sata

PRESIDENT Michael Sata says urgent practical interventions need to be undertaken to avert the continued loss of innocent lives on Zambian roads.

Sixteen people died on the spot in a road traffic accident yesterday involving a Toyota minibus and a truck.

President Sata sent a message of condolences to the families of the 16 people who died in the accident which happened along Kabwe Road near Ibis Gardens.

In his message, President Sata said he was immensely saddened by the loss of more innocent and precious lives in yet another road traffic accident involving public transport on the same road.

“Allow me, on behalf of my Cabinet, the First Lady and indeed on my own behalf to express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families in the wake of this heartbreaking loss,” said President Sata.

“As a nation, we share their pains and sorrow; and beseech the Almighty God to grant the bereaved families comfort and strength during this extremely painful period.
