Lecturers at Solwezi Trades down tools

Unionized Lecturers At Solwezi Trades Training Institute have gone on a sitting protest demanding that government increases their salaries and better their conditions of services.

A check at the institute found some Lecturers just sitting around the institute premises.

And National Union of technician education and Allied workers NUTEAW Chairperson has confirmed the sitting in protest by the lecturers.

Union Chairperson Peter Saji said government should consider improving the salaries for workers unlike being mute despite receiving reports on low salaries.

“You see its very unbelievable we can’t have a situation where lecturers salaries can be as low as K 1,600 this is not right”. Mr Saji Complained

He has however called on government to increase funding in the ministry of education, Science and vocation training and allow lectures be paid what they deserve.
