Kapeya ticks off Banda for championing regional politics

Information and Broadacating Deputy Minister Mwansa Kapeya has castigated former President Rupiah Banda’s son Andrew for fanning regional and tribal politics, as reported in some sections of the media.

Kapeya said in a statement on Wednesday July 24,2013 that it is shallow, shameful and outdated for the former President’s son to engage in such type of politics.

He said the so-called caucus which Banda is calling for in in Chipata for Easterners to discuss their relevance in the politics of the country is retrogressive and divisive.

The Deputy Minister has therefore called on all well-meaning Zambians to dismiss the suggesion with the contempt it deserves.

He said only political failures would engage in this type of politics ading that is has no place in modern democratic dispensation.

“Zambians are one people who cherish peace and unity in diversity. They have no time for leaders who want to drag them backwards in regional and tribal politics.”

Anyone aspiring for national leadership should embrace the whole country. This is what modern day politics demand.” the Deputy Minister said.

Kapeya said Zambia is a model and envy of the world in democracy, peace and unity.
“It is therefore highly irresponsible for any Zambian to seek to dent these impeccable credentials by championing regional politics for selfish gain.” he said

The Deputy has therefore re-affirmed President’s Michael Sata’s commitment to building an inclusive and prosperous Zambia.
