Kapeya reiterates commitment to equitable flow of information

INFORMATION and broadcasting deputy minister Mwansa Kapeya has reiterated government’s commitment to ensuring equitable flow of information across the country.

Kapeya said information is important for the people to participate meaningfully in the governance of the country.

He noted that it is sad that only the urban areas have access to information while people in rural parts of the country were still denied vital information for close to 50 years of independence.

Kapeya said this when he toured the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) offices in Kapiri Mposhi on Friday.

Kapeya said the PF and its government would ensure that there is a flow of information to rural areas through the opening up of ZANIS offices across the country, re-introduction of vernacular newspapers and creation of provincial broadcast studios.

“It is sad that after 49 years of our independence, we still have a challenge in equitably disseminating information especially to our rural areas.
