Kansembe instructs police to create task force on murders of taxi drivers

HOME affairs deputy minister Alfreda Kansembe has instructed the Police Service to create a task force to curb the escalating murders of taxi drivers.

Speaking when she officiated at the pass-out parade of 454 police recruits at the School of Public Order Maintenance at Kamfinsa police camp on Wednesday, Kansembe urged police officers to stay away from corruption and partisan politics.

“Government is concerned with the rise in the murders of taxi drivers and women. In this regard, I would to ask you come up with a task force to plan and strategise on bringing these evil acts to an end,” she said.

The country has of late experienced murders of taxi drivers in unexplained circumstances.

And Kansembe thanked the police command on the Copperbelt for the action taken to reduce the smuggling of mealie-meal out of the country.
