Kalabo needs more secondary schools, says Imasiku

Kalabo District Education Board Secretary Richard Imasiku says there is need to construct more secondary schools in the area.

Speaking to journalists in Kalabo on Wednesday, Imasiku said there were too many primary schools but only three secondary schools which were not adequate.

Currently, Kalabo district has a total of 100 primary schools, 17 community schools and only three secondary schools.

Two other high schools are still under construction.

“The schools are not adequate especially at senior level. We hope that we can overcome this challenge by constructing more schools. We are happy that right now, two high schools are under construction by Chinese companies,” he said.

Imasiku also said that the construction of Kalabo Trades Institute had reached an advanced stage.

“The roofing has already been done and it is expected that by next year, it will be done and be operational,” Imasiku said.
