Kachingwe collected Rupiah’s letter of offer for oil deal – witness

THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court yesterday heard that Major Richard Kachingwe collected a letter of offer from Nigerian National Oil Petroleum Company, in relation to which former president Rupiah Banda is facing charges.

This is in a case where former president Rupiah Banda is charged with abuse of authority of office contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Testifying during examination-in-chief led by Director of Public Prosecutions Mutembo Nchito yesterday, Margaret Kaemba, 62, a former first secretary – economic at the Zambian High Commission in Nigeria, said she received a phone call from the two Osigwe brothers, who confirmed to her that Maj Kachingwe collected the letter of offer from Nigerian National Oil Petroleum Company (NNOPC).

Kaemba said after the two brothers visited the mission, they called and accused her and former high commissioner Alexis Luhila of lying about the oil deal.
