Kabwe Man Electrocuted

A MAN believed to be in his 30’s in Kabwe has been electrocuted when he attempted to drain oil from newly-installed Zesco transformers in Makululu Township.

The deceased, whose identity has not been established, was found under the electricity pylon by passersby, who later reported the matter to the Police.

Central Province Police chief Standwell Lungu and Zesco regional manager Boniface Mulonda confirmed the development separately.

Mr Mulonda regretted that people had continued vandalising Zesco facilities when the company had just installed the transformers in the area, which never had electricity since establishment.

He said Zesco had in the last few weeks recorded a lot of cases of vandalism and that such acts if not stopped could delay development in the area.

Meanwhile, a man of Ngabwe District died after he was beaten by villagers on suspicion that he was practising witchcraft.

The deceased identified as Amos Chifita of Chilimakumwela Village died around 15.00 hours on Tuesday when the villagers followed him at his house and attacked him for allegedly bewitching a villager.

Mr Lungu said investigations have been launched although no arrest had been made.
