Kabwe, Lusaka Road now a death-trap, 4 die in an accident

Four people have died while several others have been injured in a road traffic accident on the Great North Road near Katuba area.

The accident happened around 04:00 hours involving a Marcopolo Bus coming from Mpulungu in Nothern Province and a fuel tanker heading to the Copperbelt.

The accident is belived to have been caused by over-speeding as the driver wanted to over-take a truck.

The driver is among the dead while several other people have been referred to Chipata clinic and University Teaching Hospital (UTH).

Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) Senior Traffic Instructor David Majilinjili said the bus belonging to CV Transport which was carrying about 60 passengers collided with the tanker early this morning.

He said five of the injured people were rushed to UTH while others were taken to Chipata clinic.

The country has in the recent past recorded a number of road traffic accident which has also left a number of people dead.
