His party members and members of the party’s policy board are up in arms demanding that he steeps down his position as Chief Executive Officer of the party. He is being accused of dividing the party by setting parallel structures to endorse his presidential ambition.

The party organs have since petitioned the Central Committee which is the supreme body in between Congress. The Central Committee which is chaired by the President met on Sunday but the matter was not conclusive as he was absent. President Sata however told the meeting that he will personally resolve the matter that has been dragging on for months now.
