Kabimba, GBM violent clash records deaths

Nearly 10 people are feared dead while several others are injured following clashes between Patriotic Front Secretary General Wynter Kabimba and his defence counterpart Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba’s supporters clashed in Lusaka central business over the control of the ruling Patriotic Front offices.

The clashes started when cadres were first headed Kenneth Kaunda International Airport where President Michael Sata was scheduled to lay a foundation stone. The confusion spilled into town.

This was when Kabimba’s group wanted to grab the Lusaka District office from GBM’s camp that has been in charge for several weeks demanding the resignation of Kabimba. One of the persons who died from GBM’s camp had his spine broken.

There is so far no word from President Michael Sata who has not acted on the confusion that has raged in PF. One of GBM’s supporters Julius Komaki has been badly macheted and is currently in theatre at the Levy Mwanawasa Hospital.

PF cadres are notoriously violent and have since President Sata winning office taken the law in their own hands. / Zambia Reports
