Judge Chikopa is not going, Tribunal to go ahead

Despite the advise by the Supreme Court to use other options other than the Tribunal, information reaching Zambian Eye is that President Michael Sata’s government has decided to go ahead.

Acting Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda in a verdict yesterday stated that though the President had the powers to appoint the Tribunal, there was need to take other options available citing constitution issues that had arisen.

Insiders have told Zambian Eye that the Tribunal that was set to review the conduct of the three judges will still go ahead and that the dates will be made public soon.

Malawian Judge Lovemore Chikopa whose stay in Zambia has been critical issue will start seating soon. It means Chikopa is still very much around contrary to some Zambians expectations after the ruling yesterday.
