JAPANESE DEPUTY MINISTER SAYS INVESTORS FROM HIS COUNTRY RANK ZAMBIA HIGHLY

TOKYO– Japan’s Deputy Minister for Construction, Engineering and Real Estate, Yoshiyuki Aoki, says Zambia is ranked the 10th favourite destination in Africa by Japanese companies.

Most Japanese companies surveyed have expressed interest in Zambia’s energy sector, construction of roads and bridges, he said during a dialogue session here with a 15-member delegation of senior Zambian government officials.

The team, led by the Housing and Infrastructure Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Charles Mushota, is in Japan on a five-day Quality Infrastructure Development Programme.

Japanese Vice-Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Koichi Yoshida said Japanese companies were eager to contribute to the stability and prosperity of Zambia through infrastructure development.

Mushota expressed confidence that the visit and dialogue would result in high quality infrastructure investment in Zambia.

Zambia’s Ambassador to Japan, Ndiyoi Mutiti, said she appreciated the visit as it would culminate in tangible projects.
