New Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services Emmanuel Mwamba has said he will work to depoliticize the government owned institution.

Mwamba a journalist by profession says he will want to promote professionalism among reporters working the government media houses. He said among other measures he will stop a trend by some Ministers or anyone wanting to be covered to select the reporter.

The Information Permanent Secretary explains that some sources go to this media institution and choose which reporter to cover them, a situation he says should come to end.

He says the Media Heads should select the reporter to cover an assignment unlike the situation now where sources choose which reporter to cover them

There is a growing trend amongst government officials especially under the current PF regime where some Ministers have adopted some reporters who cover them.

Some these reporters to an extent became ‘big headed’ to their supervisors telling their superiors at their offices off because of their close association with senior government officials.

Mwamba who was last week promoted from Provincial Permanent Secretary for Western province to Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services was speaking when he featured on Muvi Television’s Assignment programme, September 15, 2013.
