HWUZ asks MoH to send anaesthetist to Chikuni hospital

THE Health Workers Union of Zambia has appealed to the Ministry of Health to quickly send an anaesthetist to Chikuni Mission Hospital and psychosocial counsellors to Gwembe to prevent the continuous loss of lives.

HWUZ national organising secretary Bruno Tembo stated that due to lack of an anaesthetist, theatre cases were not being handled at Chikuni Mission Hospital.

He said psycho-socio counsellors were needed at Gwembe District Hospital to help prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS in the district.

Tembo stated that if these issues were not attended to very quickly, the dream of the country reaching the widely spoken about Millennium Development Goals would be a milestone.

And Tembo urged the government to be objective when dealing with matters which concern the lives of health workers who hold the lives of many Zambians in their hands.

He advised the government to, at all costs, avoid a divide-and-rule tactic.
