HH lying over KR1.5 million

GOVERNMENT has dismissed allegations by United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema that it has illegally paid First Lady Christine Kaseba KR1.5 million (K1.5 billion).

Mr Hichilema alleged at a public rally on Sunday that Government has illegally paid Dr Kaseba at the expense of the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) being in a crisis due to its failure to repair an oxygen machine. But chief government spokesperson Kennedy Sakeni said: “The accusation is cheap and baseless as no such money has been illegally given to the First Lady by Government.” Mr Sakeni, who is also Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services, said the Patriotic Front (PF) government is a responsible and transparent one whose expenditure is there for all citizens to see as provided for in the national budget and approved by Parliament.
