Govt’s lack of interest in land offer worries Chisunka

CHIEF Chisunka of the Ushi people of Mansa district has expressed concern over delays by the government to make use of the 50-hectare piece of land, which he voluntarily gave out.

Speaking in an interview yesterday, chief Chisunka said ever since he made the pronouncement, government officials had not shown any commitment on the matter.

“I gave that land to government so that they can construct the proposed university but it’s like no one is interested in my offer. The place is strategically positioned. There is sufficient water resources and reliable security because it is near Zambia National Service (ZNS) Luamfumu camp,” said chief Chisunka.

But Mansa Municipal council spokesperson Evans Lumande said the local authority would soon hold a meeting to discuss, among other matters, the land in question.

“I cannot give our stance on that land because we are likely to hold a meeting and during the same meeting, I am sure that issue will be on the agenda.
