Govt to build 100 council workers’ houses

THE government says it will construct 100 housing units for council workers in all the districts of the country.

Local government and housing deputy minister John Kufuna confirmed the development yesterday in Samfya, where he inspected some of the infrastructure projects by his ministry in the area.

Kufuna said this was in line with the government’s commitment to addressing accommodation challenges which had been recorded countrywide among council workers.

He said the positive way to motivate council workers was to construct housing units for them.

Kufuna inspected the new Lupili market which cost KR420,000 and several township roads.

He disclosed that her ministry intends to upgrade 40 kilometres of feeder roads in the area while 15 kilometres of road were going to be constructed under Pave Zambia 2000.

He advised government officers to identify reliable contractors who could do a good job.
