Sege: Mr. Simon Fantevi, the Sege Zonal Chairman for the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA), has urged artisans to plan their time and activities well to avoid disappointing their customers. Mr. Fantevi indicated that this would facilitate the growth of their businesses as customers would trust them and recommend them to others.According to Ghana News Agency, speaking at the GNTDA's 29th Graduation Ceremony held in Sege, Mr. Fantevi emphasized the importance of being present at work at all times for business owners, stating that it boosts customer morale to continuously patronize their services. He warned that neglecting this could harm the growth of their shops and finances. He further explained that modern artisanal training has evolved to include multiple skills. 'Today, people learn multiple skills. Some of the masters and madams have added designing with beads on slippers and easy wears and other skills to the sewing. And even as of now, a lot of the learners are sewing for all sexes, making it very easy and improved,' he stated.Mr. Timothy Teye Tokoli, exams coordinator for the GNTDA, highlighted the association's success in graduating artisans since 1995. He challenged the misconception that artisanal skills are for the less brilliant, arguing that artisans are indeed skilled in complex tasks like record-keeping and machine use.He urged educated individuals to consider learning artisanal skills to enhance their value, emphasizing that it adds rather than detracts from one's capabilities.Madam Eunice Lasi, an independent parliamentary candidate for the Sege Constituency, celebrated the occasion by gifting sewing machines to the 28 graduated apprentices and awarding the top performers in various categories. She revealed her plans to support other artisans in the constituency and establish vocational training centers in all 16 electoral areas if elected to parliament. These centers would be equipped with machines and gadgets to assist in teaching and learning skills.
