Given Lubinda’s fate being determined today

The highest party organ of the ruling party – Patriotic Front in Zambia is seating today to decide the fate of Foreign Minister Given Lubinda who has been recommended for expulsion from the party and government.

The Central Committee chaired by President Michael Sata is meeting at State House and apart from Lubinda’s case the meeting will also look at other members facing disciplinary charges such as suspended Eastern province chairperson Lucas Phiri and his Lusaka counterpart Davis Mwila.

Lubinda has so far been excused from his ministerial position and insiders say the party is resolved to flash him out of the party. This will mean the country holding another by-election in Kabwata where he is a Member of Parliament.

The PF is also expected to pick candidates for Livingstone and Mpongwe by-elections that are due in February 28, 2013.
