Fr. Bwalya’s ABZ sets date for party launch rally

Alliance for Better Zambia (ABZ) has now set 10th August 2013 as the date for the launch of the party.

This follows the cancellation of the planned July 27, 2013 after police refused to allow the opposition party to go ahead with its launch.

The party has now announced that the much anticipated launch will be done on Saturday August 10, 2013 in Kitwe district.

The party announced the development in a statement on its facebook page on Tuesday July 30, 2013.

The statement indicated that the launch will be at Changanamai grounds in Kwacha East, on the Copperbelt Province.

It has however not given more details as it has promised to do so later.   “Dear friends ABZ launch is on 10th August 2013, its a Saturday at Changanamai grounds in Kwacha East Kitwe. More details later” reads the statement.

Police this month (July) denied the ABZ to go ahead with the launch of the party.

According to a statement that was issued by its President Father Frank Bwalya, the police gave the polls in Kafulafuta as a reason for not given them permit.

“We wish to inform our party members and the general public that the Police Force (PF) in Kitwe has asked us not to go ahead with the public launch of our party this weekend on 27th July 2013.

The politically motivated reason they have given is that police officers will be in Kafulafuta for the parliamentary by-electionon 25th July 2013. ” said Fr. Bwalya.
