Former Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba popularly known as GBM has been expelled from the Patriotic Front (PF).

The long awaited decision was made by the Northern Province Executive where GBM was serving as PF Member of Parliament for Kasama Central.

On Friday, the Kasama District Executive made the resolution and passed to the Province which has also endorsed it and sent to the PF Central Committee, the highest party organ in between the Congress.

According to recommendation to Central Committee by Provincial Acting Chairperson Stephen Mansa, the Kasama Parliamentarian must be expelled from the party for allegedly lack of respect to the party and leadership.

GBM bankrolled the PF and its leader Michael Sata in the run-upto the party wining the 2011 elections. He was one of Sata’s allies but the duo fall out over the installation of Chanda Sososala as Chitimukulu.

President Sata had challenged GBM to chose between serving in his government or Chanda Sosasala. This was after GBM visited Sosasala whom Sata’s government had refused to recognize.

But GBM who already according to insiders was not happy with the status call in the PF quickly offered to side with Sosasala whom he says is his Uncle. He said family was more important than a job.
