Eating red meat linked to early death

In my last article I referred to maheu as a modernized version of chibwantu.

A reader commented that maheu has always been around and is not a modernized form of chibwantu, I want to clarify that I was referring to the industrially produced maheu sold in the store, not the home made maheu that uses a traditional recipe.

Some readers also felt that the article left out important aspects of chibwantu drink, I have taken note of all comments and future articles will address all the points that were brought up.

Red meat is classified as meat from four legged animals. Considering the adverse health effects of eating red meat, it is no surprise that numerous studies are linking red meat to early death.

It turns out saturated fats are not the only reason red meat is bad, even lean meat contains high levels of harmful substances and red meat gets even unhealthier when it is made into processed meats like ham, bacon, salami, and hot dogs.

Compounds in red meat damage pancreatic beta cells that produce insulin, impairing the body’s ability to make and use insulin optimally and making diabetes more likely or worsening it if it already exists.

The rise in cancer rates, particularly colorectal cancer, has also been tied to eating too much red meat which produces cancer causing compounds and kills healthy intestinal bacteria, or probiotics, whose activities not only protect against colorectal cancer, but also kill cancer cells and deactivate cancer causing agents.

Furthermore, red meat is high in carnitine, converted by the body into a substance that stiffens and damages blood vessel walls, resulting in high blood pressure and heart disease.

Eating red meat also triggers a cycle of major body imbalances including systemic inflammation, sluggish metabolism, poor digestion, and increased belly fat and contributes to early aging, bad breath, smelly sweat, and unpleasant body odor.

You do not even have to go meat free; significantly reducing red meat can improve your health tremendously. Remember that by eating bad foods in excess we treat our own bodies as dump sites.
