Choma District Commissioner Bernadette Hamweemba has sympathized with the Management at Choma Secondary School over the burning of the kitchen at the School, reports Zambian Eye Correspondent.

A Kitchen at Choma Secondary School went into flames early hours of Friday, February 15, 2014 last week.

The Choma DC said government will come in and help the school put up a new structure as soon as they receive the total bill of the damaged properties.

Ms Hamweemba stressed that though the cause of fire has not yet been established but charged that the PF government being a listening government will work closely with the church administration in ensuring that the Brethren in Christ church sponsored school is rescued from this burden.
She described the scourge as a major setback to both government and the church especially that the gutted kitchen recently underwent some rehabilitation.

“This is sad because the same kitchen recently underwent some rehabilitation so it may be cost for the management to budget for the project they had completed rehabilitating,” says Ms. Hamweemba.

She said two BICC sponsored schools had similar situations where a kitchen roof was burnt to ashes at Macha Girls Secondary School in January this year and some dormitories that got burnt at Sikalongo Secondary School November 2013.

Some Fire started from unknown sources ravaged the entire kitchen at Choma Secondary School  around 02hrs last Friday leaving some food stuffs and other kitchen appliances burnt to ashes.
