Council workers demand to meet President Sata

By A Correspondent on the Copperbelt

Council workers on the Copperbelt province have appealed to their Union leaders to meet President Micheal Sata over the delayed payment of  salaries.

The local authority workers, mostly those who belong to division four complained to Zambian Eye in Kitwe that it was unfortunate that they were  getting their salaries late despite government’s assurance that they would be paid in time.

“ The situation is not good, our salaries do not come in time, especially us in division four, we want President Micheal Sata to intervene  in this problem, we have families to look after but if we do not get our money on time how are we going to care for our children,”  complained  Mike Chewe one of the workers.

And  Zambia United Local Authority Workers Union of Zambia(ZULAWU) Secretary General  Kingsley Zulu  said the union intends to meet President Sata over the late payment of salaries to council workers especially those in division four.

He said it is unfortunate that up to date, some Council workers have not been paid their  August Salaries.
