Council of African political parties elects Kabimba as president

THE council of the African political parties has elected PF secretary general Wynter Kabimba as its inaugural president.

And Kabimba said his election was a dawn of a new era for Africa.

Sudan, being the host country, becomes the secretariat, and Kabimba will be deputised by Senegal, Algeria, Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

In his acceptance speech delivered in a fully packed friendship hall, Kabimba said the destiny of Africa was in the hands of its people.

“The creation of the council of African political parties and my election to the presidency is a dawn of a new era for Africa. Africa’s destiny is in our hands. We can make it or break it. The choice is ours. I have no doubt that with the efforts of our great people, we will realise the dreams of this continent,” he said.

Kabimba’s candidature was nominated by Ethiopia and supported by most southern, eastern and north African countries.
