CONSTRUCTION OF NEW LUSAKA AIRPORT WILL MAKE ZAMBIA AN ECONOMIC HUB

LUSAKA– The Zambian government says the construction and successful completion of the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport here will make Zambia an economic hub in central Africa when it is commissioned.

Minister of Infrastructure Development Ronald Chitotela said in a statement to Parliament here Tuesday that the overall work progress at the airport is at 64 per cent with specific percentages in different points of the construction.

The Minister said despite the variations on the performance of Zambia’s Kwacha currency, the contract sum of the project remains at 360 million US dollars.

Asked if the government had any plan to upgrade the road leading to the airport, Chitotela disclosed that the construction of a dual carriageway airport access road would begin next year.
