Constitution making needs patriotism – Sata

PRESIDENT Michael Sata says the constitution-making process should be undertaken with a great sense of patriotism.

And chairperson of the Technical Committee drafting the Zambian Constitution, Justice Annel Silungwe, has thanked President Sata for his political will in the process.

About 500 delegates are gathered at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka for a one week national convention, to deliberate on resolutions passed by the 10 provinces, and make final resolutions that would be considered by the Technical Committee when making the final draft constitution.

In an official opening speech read on his behalf by acting president Edgar Lungu, President Sata urged delegates to consider the assignment “a call to national duty”.

He said the constitution-making process should be undertaken with a great sense of patriotism and he was determined to give Zambians a people-driven constitution.
