Chipolopolo fails to fly to Ghana, refused to land in Kumasi

The Zambian National Team has failed to fly out to Ghana and some players who were already in a plane disembarked a while ago after authorities in that country said the aircraft could not land in Kumasi where the game is supposed to be played from.

The players who had boarded the plane at about 2pm local time to fly to Kumasi for the crucial Group D World Cup qualifier encounter are now heading back to the Hotel in Lusaka to wait for further instructions with only 48 hours before the game.

The authorities in Ghana has insisted that the team lands in Accra and then take a bus to Kumasi saying the plane was too big to land at the Kumasi Airport.

“Our Chipolopolo has disembarked. The team will not fly its charter to Ghana. The squad will stay in Lusaka. We have no permission to land in Kumasi. We will issue a comprehensive statement later,” read a brief statement from Football Association of Zambia.
