China Luanshya Mine is to create 500 more jobs for Luanshya residents once the Cobolt treatment plant is constructed.

China Luanshya Mine spokesperson Sydney Chileya said Monday, September 16, 2013 that the mine is waiting for Zambia Environmental Agency (ZEMA) for the environment assessment before the plant can be put up.

“We have already designed everything, we are just waiting for a response from Zambia Environmental Agency(ZEMA), we have informed ZEMA about our project we are just waiting for their approval,” Chilye said.

He said the total cost of the project is US$60million.

Chileya said once constructed, the cobolt treatment plant, will produce about 2000 tones of Cobolt per annum.
