TWO children of Chisamu village in Kalomo are battling for their lives in Kalomo District Hospital after being shot by unknown people.

Southern Province police commissioner Charity Katanga confirmed the incident and named the victims as brothers Isaac Mufulira, 9, and Luckson Mudenda, 12. They are believed to have been shot around 16:00 hours on Tuesday. One was shot in the abdomen.

Mrs Katanga said police have launched a manhunt for the unidentified assailants. The children’s father reported the shooting to police.

The shooting happened a day after a 55-year-old man of Butele village in Namwala was also allegedly shot by unknown people.

“On April 30, 2013, Zebet Chisamu told police that some unknown people attempted to murder his two sons,” she said.

Mrs Katanga said Isaac sustained a deep wound on his left leg.

And a 56-year-old widower of Chandamali in Choma has been burnt to death in a house fire.
