CBU honours KK

FIRST Republican president Dr Kenneth Kaunda is today expected to be awarded an honourary doctorate degree in peace and conflict studies by the Copperbelt University.

Speaking at a press briefing yesterday, CBU public relations officer Grace Mikunga said the special graduation ceremony that will take place at the university campus in Kitwe would be in recognition of the contribution Dr Kaunda had made towards conflict resolution and liberation struggle in Africa and many parts of the world.

“It’s because of this contribution our forefather made towards peace and liberation struggle in Africa that he deserves to be honoured by this reputable public academic institution. We have the Dag Hammarskjold Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies under which the university is offering programmes bordering on peace and conflict. The university has found it very important that we honour the first Republican president for his contribution,” Mikunga said.
