Car accident injures 21 Kamfinsa recruits

ABOUT 21 police recruits from Kamfinsa Mobile Unit sustained serious injuries after a car lost control and hit them on the Kitwe-Ndola road.

Police sources yesterday disclosed that the incident happened on Friday around 23:00 hours when the recruits from the School of the Public Order Maintenance were executing a training exercise called the route march.

A source who witnessed the incident said the driver of a car, a Toyota Spacio, registration number ACR 8537, lost control and rammed into a crowd of trainee mobile police officers that was conducting the exercise.

The police sources said the driver ran away and a manhunt had been launched.

The vehicle has been impounded and is parked at Wusakile police station.

“The incident is terrible but we thank God no one died but there are some cases that are very serious. 21 were rushed to the hospital and of these three cases are critical. We hope and pray they will be out of danger as well,” the source said.
