Brace for more by-elections declares PF

The ruling Patriotic Front in Lusaka has told the opposition to brace for more by-elections.

Lusaka Province Youth Chairman Kennedy Kamba said today, May 8, 2013 that the opposition must expect more by-elections as long as they continue to stop their Members of Parliament who want to work with the PF government. He said the PF was on a serious recruiting drive adding that more will continue to join the party.

He said the opposition should know that the MPs leaving to join the PF were not alone but with their followers. Kamba said the PF was busy working to ensure that they attain the numbers since people were calling for 50 plus 1 percent for a president.

The PF Youth leader said some of these by-elections have been caused by MMD who engaged in malpractices during the 2011 tripartite elections. He said there is no way PF can be held responsible of such elections which were supposed to have been won by his party.

But MMD Spokesperson Dora Siliya says it is illogical to continue initiating by-elections when many Zambians were suffering going without three meals. She said at the height of hikes in commodities due to fuel increment the country should spend billions of kwachas to hold by-elections.
