Best yet to come —Sata

PRESIDENT Michael Sata has urged public service workers to equal their production levels with the recently increased salaries of more than 200 per cent as Government is ready to adjust conditions of service upwards even further.
Mr Sata said in Lusaka yesterday during celebrations to commemorate Labour Day at the Freedom Statue in Lusaka that the improved salaries for civil servants should match production and that there was no room for laziness.
Government recently awarded civil servants salary increment which would see the lowest paid worker receiving a net salary of up to KR2,900 per month.
The theme for this year’s Labour Day was, ‘Transforming the economy through job creation, labour reforms, better conditions of service and improved work culture’.
Before commencing celebrations, President Sata invited first Republican President, Kenneth Kaunda, to the podium before the gathering sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to the former head of state who turned 89 on Sunday this week.
